Small China Hutch Gets a Big Update

Have you ever had those things you just can't part with but you just don't love anymore? Take this small hutch for example: good solid wood, nice bones but before it got a paint updated, it looked like this.....

She looks like she's given the best years of her life to someone and she's ready to retire, right?

Not quite! We added Maison Blanche's Wrought Iron to her shell and stripped and re-stained her top for some contrast.

Some light distressing on her edges just to keep things interesting and to remind you, she's knows what she's doing. This isn't her first time at the rodeo!

Add to that some fresh new hardware and she's better than new and happily settled in to her new home!

An Outdated Dresser gets a TV Console Update

This old dresser. <---- That should totally be a show on HGTV or something.

Anyway, this old dresser had been hacked off at the bottom. Not really sure what was there before, maybe legs? But it was definitely missing something. The molding you see on it below wasn't there when she brought it to us and the top was the same color as the bottom.

Ok. You got us. We get too excited to remember to take before pictures so this is actually a "during". Busted.

Since our client wanted something to put her TV on in her living room she didn't want it too high but she also wanted something that she could easily clean beneath.

In addition to adding new legs and molding to the bottom we also applied a fresh coat of paint in Creme' de Menthe from the Maison Blanche Paint Company. It is such a delicious shade of green.

A freshly stripped and re-stained top, a little distressing and whole lotta character. She might "just be a TV stand" but I'm betting she gets more attention than the TV!

Our Counter

Four Months old!  Yes, that how long Nostalgia and this famous check out counter have been around!

Before we opened Jamie said I'd love to have an old buffet as a counter.
Hmmm, I have one in storage, but she's in pretty bad shape!

She's sturdy, bold and knows how to greet a customer...kinda like me and Jamie ;)

She has a few blemishes, but she wears them like a badge...kinda like me and Jamie ;)

She does the best she can with what she has...kinda...well you know!

If you want to read more about her and see what she looked like before, check out this blog post.

I hope you stop by and see her in person!

xo,
Debbie

ps.  We sell Maison Blanche furniture paint in lots of awesome colors including St. Anne just in case you want to paint something in this awesome color!

Buffet Commission Piece
Maison Blance's La Craie in Vanille

Sometimes the best part of our job is getting to transform something you already own into something you never thought it could be.

We transformed this piece for our client, Laura, who chose Vanille from our La Craie (The Chalk) furniture paint line. It was finished in the La Craie Light Brown Wax.

At her request, we changed the hardware to give it an updated and more custom appearance.

Add in a little light distressing...

Mixed with a set of gorgeous legs...

And you've got yourself one fine custom piece quite unlike anything you'd find anywhere else.

Make your neighbors jealous! Give us a call and have your out-dated pieces freshened up. Just ask about our custom serives - 912-225-3737.

We also get in new pieces weekly. You'll find us at:

Farmtable Winner & Chef Elaine
How we party at Nostalgia

Our farmtable winner, Sarah got married this weekend! Congrats Sarah! And, she gets to take this farmtable to her new family home. We think that's pretty special.

Our farmtable was built by Nostalgia's co-owner, Jamie of Southern Revivals, and her husband. It seats 10 and was finished in using our Milk Paint line. The bottom is done in Ironstone and waxed with our Milk Paint line's Furniture Wax. The top is finished in the line's Hemp Oil. An all natural food-grade oil that's very durable and very safe for your family's table top.

No table is complete without delicious fixins! And our very own Chef Elaine hooked us up with fresh veggie salsa and chips on Friday night, May 3rd, the first night of our Farmtable Viewing Party. Plus, she decked out our table with fresh flowers and veggies from the garden.

Then on Saturday morning we were treated with fresh strawberries and candied nuts from the Farmer's Market and Chef had baked up some delicious Vidalia Onion and Spinach tarts for our guests.

Chef Elaine is a personal chef and is available for hire for your next shindig, family reunion or just for you!

We highly recommend her work. It's a fun and fresh, just like her! You can contact Chef Elaine through her Facebook page here.

I am STARVING right now! How about you? Doesn't that look amazing!

Fresh lemonade in Ball jars...

Paired with Strawberries! I wish I had some right about now.

Now that you know how we get down at Nostalgia, I'm guessing you won't want to miss out next big thing. Stay tuned because you know we've got a lot more up our sleeves!

Maison Blanche La Craie Paint Class

Good morning class!

Here are some of wonderful ladies that attended our first Maison Blanche La Craie "The Chalk" paint your own furniture class.  All the supplies: paints, waxes, brushes, and helpful hints were provided for the class.  The ladies brought in tired brown pieces of furniture and left with a refreshed piece, ready to spruce up their spaces.

Everyone received a print-out of instructions to take home with them, so they can paint their next piece of furniture.  Tips and tricks were written on the the chalkboard and several of the ladies were taking really good notes.

There was a variety of fun furniture pieces.  We discussed several options for this former plant stand.

Old windows have become a popular decor item.  We even have a pinterest board that includes a variety of ideas for them!  This one got painted, waxed and I'm sure it is already hanging on the wall.

Don't you just love the color!  Maison Blanche Creme de Menthe.

All the colors are wonderful, but I'm so glad the bold and beautiful Cerise went home on this little night stand.  Not only was it sporting this beautiful color, it also got new hardware in the shape of little baseballs!  Sadly, we did not get a picture of the hardware.

This ceramic lamp was beautified using Colette.  As soon as we decide on a shade for it, we'll show you the finished product.  Yes, you can paint glass and metal!

Robin's Egg blue was the perfect color for the plant stand and now it's being distressed with one my favorite distressing techniques, come to the class and I'll share it with you.

And after you've distressed to perfection, you get to wax your piece.

What a transformation!

Creme de Menthe with the dark brown wax transformed this Goodwill table.

We weren't able to get all the attendees photo, but here's part of the talented group of ladies and their finished pieces.

Thanks for a wonderful class, I can't wait to see what you ladies paint next!
